anyone who is interested and cannot afford one

scholarships for Community College (i.e. Leadership or Ethics class)
BPW information booth at local fair, farmer’s
market, festival, etc.
Obtain BPW/WA endorsements and support for
candidates/issues at the state level
Hold a food drive (especially at local grocer who
is having 10 for $10 sale)
Rather than BPW meeting lunch/dinner order in
November collect money and take to local soup kitchen
Instead of walk-a-thon or 5k run organize a family
biking fundraiser event
Host a bingo event at a local nursing home
Organize pinochle, dominoes, scrabble, or poker
tournament at local senior housing apartments
Establish a list, for local interested members, of
organizations needing volunteers
Visit a shut-in, nursing home, or hospital
Check with Employment office: coach & mentor
welfare to work mom, purchase interview outfit, etc.
Pay for X number of mammography exams during
breast cancer awareness month
Transfer breast cancer patient to and from chemo
and other medical appointments
Organize BPW phone buddies for stroke victims (for
speech practice)
As group, get involved in and learn local
community’s emergency preparedness and response plans
Invite “English as Second Language” adult women to
potluck lunch to practice conversation & networking
Have BPW New Years Eve party: non-alcoholic
beverages & potluck hors d’ouvres – invite local AA females
BPW sponsors family for Holidays
Sponsor a family for the whole year: birthdays,
camp fees, school supplies & clothes, attend kids event (choir, play,
basketball games, science fair), provide local carnival tickets, fair
passes, etc.
As a group attend other local meetings (library,
city council, parks & recreation, etc)
As a group attend a local trial that deals
specifically with womens issues
As a group attend a local civic event (swearing in
new Mayor, ribbon cutting, etc)
